Hello Brian--I am listening to Upheaval by Jared Diamond and I liked your comment: "You have to admit you have a crisis. You have to take responsibility rather than just blame others." What is your opinion about the current crisis USA is going through today?
Brian Griffith Hi Oscar, thanks for the message. I'm in Canada, but it seems to me that our Conservative Party and the U.S. Republican party share a very traditional set of assumptions. They typically assume that any problems are caused by bad people. The solution is to blame somebody or group, and then demand they be punished. It's different from trying to figure out how to make things work better.

Hi, Brian, I accepted your friend request, a few days ago. Had wanted to write you a message but had to postpone as I was short of time. Now today, I see you following me. Doesn't GR friendship include following? I, then, tried to send you a message but did not find this option on your author page but noticed that we weren't friends yet. Clicked "accept", but it didn't work. Have you any idea what happened here?

Brian Griffith Sorry, I never did. Just wrote history. No imagination!

Do you publish your own books?
Brian Griffith Hi John. I self-published one of my books ("Different Visions of Love," with Outskirts Press, in 2008) and the others had real publishers. I didn't have a good experience self-publishing.

What are you currently working on?
Brian Griffith A collection of stories about great Iranian women through the centuries, to be called "Mother Persia."

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Brian Griffith In traveling to India and Kenya, I saw how different cultures had totally different relations to the same animals. The animals loved in one culture could be hated in the next. I got curious about the whole history of human bias toward animals, and what it has meant for the health of our planet. Slowly I assembled the stories for "War and Peace with the Beasts."
