Still lamenting Ygritte's death along with John Snow from GAME OF THRONES. Wonderful love/hate relationship.

YOU CAN'T ESCAPE features September's brother, August Rafferty (in a supporting role) and THE KILLING GAME features September (also in a more supporting role). I'd have to say both of these books are closer to stand-alone stories, where the Raffertys help out the police investigations.

So sorry I missed this! The Nowhere Series includes NOWHERE TO RUN, NOWHERE TO HIDE, NOWHERE SAFE, YOU CAN'T ESCAPE and THE KILLING GAME, which debuts the end of June 2016.

Glad you like the Nowhere series! That series is, in order: NOWHERE TO RUN, NOWHERE TO HIDE, NOWHERE SAFE, YOU CAN'T ESCAPE and THE KILLING GAME, which is coming out the end of this month. (NOWHERE SAFE revisits a character from UNSEEN, my first thriller.)
My first three thrillers were UNSEEN, BLIND SPOT, and HUSH. They're all stand alones. UNSEEN introduces a character who shows up again in NOWHERE SAFE, and BLIND SPOT has elements that connect to the WIcked Series, which I write with my sister, Lisa Jackson. My most recently published stand alones are I'LL FIND YOU and YOU DON'T KNOW ME.
The WIcked Series, in order, is WICKED GAME, WICKED LIES, SOMETHING WICKED and WICKED WAYS.

For YOU CAN'T ESCAPE, the book I'm working on now, it started with an article I read about a genetic anomaly that causes a fatal disease in a small portion of the community. I used that as a core idea to create the plot around.

Hmmm......reading a really good book definitely gets me going. Sometimes something on the news will stir an idea. And a cup of coffee and a full day with nothing to do but write is about the best thing to keep me in my writing chair.

I'm in the final stages of my next thriller, YOU CAN'T ESCAPE. (Once again, I'm fighting that deadline, but it seems to be part of my writing process. Can't get it done unless my feet are to the fire, apparently.)

One of the best things, and worst, is the flexibility. It's great because I can drop everything to go to my granddaughter's holiday performance. It's not so great when that deadline's approaching like a freight train and the holiday performance will take up several critical hours needed for writing!

Read. Everything. When I started my writing career, I began analyzing books, dissecting them, really thinking about how they were put together. Then I would ask myself why a particular book was purchased and published. It's easy to be critical, especially if you don't like the book, but it's more helpful to realize what was working about the story, or the writing, to catch an editor's attention.

For me it's exercise, preferably a long walk outside. Sometimes I have music, sometimes not. It's where I get my best plot ideas, too.
