Sydney Ledger Honestly, this was a force to be reckoned with, but I eventually realised that laziness and fear had a big part to do with it, so I started to stare at my screen and then I'll type something, then that'll lead to something and it'll eventually evolve into a really satisfying piece. Don't get deterred when you hit a block - it would fade as long as you push through!
Sydney Ledger Getting warped into a world where you control everything!!!! It's so damn cool. Writing is a beautiful escape, and what makes it even more awesome is the fact that you have the final say of what happens. I research endlessly, trying to make my plots and storyline as plausible as possible and then I jot down all key points, ensuring as well, that I keep with the timeline - very important!
Sydney Ledger Never quit, push through, especially during 'writer's block'. I used to allow that to deter me and months would go by and my book would just lay there collecting cyber-dust. Sit down and push through it and soon the spark would come! Also, never stop writing! If you think you have completed a book and are satisfied, take a week or two off, read a few books (of the same genre) and then go back to your book. Have you made similar mistakes as the ones made in the books you read during that time?
Also, read reviews of books of the same genre - especially critical reviews, it helps you understand the craft better - the mistakes you've made, the way other's think etc.
Sydney Ledger 'Before The Spur' - part 2 of In The Spur of Heath which is actually it's Prequel. As well as Blood: The Vampire Covenant Series Book 1.
Sydney Ledger MUSIC!!! And my crazy life experiences. I have been through so much and always find myself in THE CRAZIEST situations ever... things I thought only happened on television, so it just makes for interesting storytelling. Even when bad things happen to me, instead of moping or whining about it, I instantly start thinking about cool story lines. And well music always sets a great mood and evokes certain emotions in me, which in turn sends my imagination running wild!
Sydney Ledger I have an obsession with the late great, Heath Ledger, as per my pen-name 'Ledger' and well... it started off as a best friend romance and evolved into something way more complexed and dramatic than I had initially expected. Can't complain though, because I'm truly in love with my stories and characters - I'm proud of this book.
