Roxanne Smolen If you wait to be inspired to write, you're lost. I just block off some time every day. Write or bust!
Roxanne Smolen Wolfsbane Brew is about death and how it touches the living. I suffered several losses as a child, and I was fascinated by the many ways the people around me coped with grief. It made me respect life all the more. I wanted my main characters to have that same epiphany.
Roxanne Smolen Writer's block is the dreaded feeling that all you write is crap. You need to re-ignite your belief in yourself and your enthusiasm for your project. Give yourself a time-out to read a book or two -- especially bad books. You can do better than that, right? Or try meditation with a positive mantra -- say I always write quickly and easily over and over until you believe it. But the important thing is to never give up and never say I can't. Because you can. Right?
Roxanne Smolen I've begun work on the fourth book of my Wolf Boy series, Werewolf Apocalypse, in which Cody travels to Georgia to rescue a damsel in distress. (If by damsel you mean witch and by distress you mean taken as a thrall by an evil werewolf.)
Roxanne Smolen It is better to have real control over an imaginary world than imaginary control over the real world.
Roxanne Smolen New writers, all writers really, should get in the habit of writing every single day. Don't allow yourself excuses, such as it's your wedding anniversary or you're in the hospital, because excuses become easier the more they are used.

P.S. I'm only joking about the hospital part.
