Great question. Probably the story of my stepfather's life. He came to us as a single man, but after he died we discovered that he had been married (and apparently never divorced) and had two or three sons. He and my mom had been together like 30 years and we had never known.

You know, I can't think of one. I love the couples that never were, the ones who just missed each other or were victims of circumstance. It's the tension that grabs me and holds me. Once that's over, the romance just doesn't feel the same.
