Chatting with other other writers is my biggest source of motivation and once I am thinking about writing, the ideas flow. It's finding the time to write them that's really tricky.

I don't think there really is 'writer's block' as such, but more a personal emotional block. Sometimes there is just too much happening in our life for our imagination to prosper. That still doesn't mean you can't write. Even just diarising what's happening to you, or blogging is writing. You don't always have to be working on a full length novel.

The are lots of great things. It's a dream come true for me, because I've always shared my head-space with a plethora of make-believe characters. The romance writing community has a wonderful camaraderie that keeps me motivated and informed.

Never give up! Persistence is the most important talent, but you should also continually improve your craft. Speak to other writers, join a writing group or two, read voraciously, and attend literary events and workshops.

After seeing first hand the devastation of alcoholism on families, I was inspired to include that aspect in this story. Mya was a handful from the moment she entered my imagination, and needed to be gritty and independent to survive her childhood and come out on top. Naturally, she needed a practical bloke to handle her.
