Aerie started life as my graduate thesis, actually! I knew I wanted to write a fantasy novel, which can be a bit difficult in a literary fiction MA program. I wanted to write a literary fantasy novel, so an emphasis on character, introspection, and pacing. I also adore lady knights and winged heroes, so that was an easy choice!
