I'm not quite sure what you mean by background. If you simply mean the idea behind the story, it was inspired by the concept of chosen ones and what it means to discover our purpose, as well as elements of fighting dark forces. It does have elements and themes of Christianity woven throughout (as do all my stories as I am a Christian) and has very loose ties to certain Biblical characters. But it is not based on any specific Bible story. I hope that answers your question.

The cabinet door creaked open. The coffee was missing.

Narnia, or Middle Earth. Either one would be cool and I would want to fight evil, talk with Aslan, eat with hobbits...can't I just do everything?

I'd love to finish The Book of Mortals series by Ted Dekker and Tosca Lee. Also A Monster Calls, Unraveled by Sara Ella and The Girl Who Could See by Kara Swanson.

Why it takes less than two minutes for my coffee to get cold after I reheat it. LOL. But seriously why does it get cold so fast. I barely make it back to my desk and its cold again.

If its me and Zoe, I'd probably just let her have the pie. (Chocolate is a different story, I don't even like to share that with my kids.) However, if its Claire (because I like to pretend I'm Claire) and Zoe it would be a fight to the pie. I imagine them a race from the door or a mini sword fight with butter knives.

That is actually a really tough one. I don't really focus on couples when I read. I like a bit of romance but usually don't get hung up on the shipping. But f I have to pick one, I'll totally shameless plug Michael and Claire. Because I wrote them and love them and think they are adorable together no matter what anyone else says. (Sorry to get immature there...#TeamMiClaire!)

I'm still aspiring to feel like an actual writer, so I will have to let you know. :)

I take aspirin and then write something else for a little while. Sometimes taking a break from the current story to write a piece of flash fiction that just popped in my brain gets the juices flowing again. The advantage is when I am done with a project I have all of these little plot bunnies hopping around waiting to be turned into a new book.

I am working on a Christian fantasy trilogy. The Chronicle of the Three: Bloodline (book one) releases in November and I'm really excited about it. In the meantime I have started on the second book in that series, Armor Bearer.

I watch a lot of tv and listen to a lot of music. Things I hear, one line of a song for example, stick with me and twist and spin around my mind until they get their own life. I put my own twist on the story until it becomes its own story.

I have a book releasing in November. Honestly, I think I dreamed it. And when I woke up it felt like a really good story so I started to put it down on paper until it started to turn into a novel.
My last book, Pulpits and Pink Lipstick, was born out of conversations with young women (and men) interested in working in youth ministry. I felt like I was answering the same questions over and over so I wrote down the answers and they became the essays collected in the book.
