Geoffrey Thorne Marcus Didius Flaco and Helena Justina from Lindsey Davis's Falco Mysteries.

They remind me of me and my wife and I find their snarky, battery passionate love for each other refreshing.
Geoffrey Thorne read as much as you possibly can and write more than you read. don't censor yourself. write the books and stories YOU want to read.
Geoffrey Thorne I'm currently working on book #4 of the FRINGE SPACE series, THE MEME CATHEDRAL, the second PRODIGAL graphic novel, THE PANDORA INTELLIGENCE as well as a collection of my recently trad-published novellas and shorts called PLAYLIST ONE.
Geoffrey Thorne for me inspiration isn't an issue. I have more stories in my head than I'll be able to tell before I die. That's the actual truth.
Geoffrey Thorne to tell that would give away the secret of the book. The quick answer is I get my ideas from everything I see, hear or experience from living. As a writer you have to remember to LIVE first and write second. if you don't do the former, the latter will suck.
Geoffrey Thorne People pay me to make up stories I would like to read. How could I NOT love that job?
Geoffrey Thorne apologies for not seeing this.

The short answer, for me, is "Writer's Block" is a luxury item that is used as a crutch by people who aren't yet serious. I've yet to meet a writer (who pays their bills via their writing) who indulges in the affectation of "block."

However. Getting stuck is another matter. If you find yourself in the middle of a work and unable to move forward, the odds are high that you aren't "blocked" but rather, have failed to map out your story/characters in sufficient detail prior to digging in.

When you fail to adequately set everything up, trusting yourself to wing it when you get to a crux point, SOMETIMES you'll find yourself stuck. Not always. Some writers can improv their way through a crux. In general, i've found it's best to have a plan.

The solution is to go back to the beginning and take a look at any holes you left there. There will be some. Holes usually take the form of unanswered questions.

Once you've answered them, you'll find you aren't stuck anymore. I promise.
Geoffrey Thorne I think the best position to occupy is what's called a HYBRID (like me, SHOCK!). Sell to trad publishers (including anthos and magazines) when you can, and keep working your indy pub brand.

Ultimately you want as many eyes on your product in as many ways was you can get them.
