Brad Chisholm Hey Barbara, thank you. I have been answering a lot of novel-writing questions on Quora as they come up, and of course it gets repetitive, so thank you for the idea. I don't have a newsletter at the moment, but I will put it together quickly as I have the material.

Have you had a chance to read K-Town Confidential and / or Kat & Maus? (one of my bits of advice will be don't publish two books at once). Also any topics you'd like covered. Thanks again, you are an inspiration.
Brad Chisholm TVWTrial is about how we individually and as a culture rush to judgment of other people without much regard for facts or context. This is codified to a larger degree in our legal system. Nothing in Holly (that's the in-house name) turns out as expected. Everything flips as facts are revealed. I don't think anyone could guess how Holly is going to turn out, only that Holly will never stop. She is relentless.
Brad Chisholm It has never been a problem for me to have ideas. I strangely dream stories before I start writing them. It can be something small that is the trigger. Last summer I liked a music album by an Algerian artist named "Khaled." The video for the single inspired me in ways I am still working out. You never know.
Brad Chisholm A new book which is not the sequel to Holly (the Virgin Whore Trial) yet. Plus I am lightly polishing a novel I wrote previously that no one in NY wanted twelve years ago (though the MS got me an agent). It will be out by July. I have two screenplays which I am rewriting into novels for young adults, and a third new idea which will finalize my young adult trilogy. And a sequel to Holly. And an adult adventure novel involving treasure and the crusades. If that's not enough, let me know.
Brad Chisholm Tell a story you love. Fit the format to the story, whether it suits a short story or a novel or a script. Screen plays are very technical and difficult, novels are more fun.
Brad Chisholm The first draft. That's the fun part when you have a great idea. My other favorite part is when characters rebel and start doing what they want instead of what you had in mind for them.
Brad Chisholm Do something different. Take a shower, take a walk. Hemingway always said to stop when you knew what was going to happen next. Also re-reading what you previously wrote is great because you will inevitably find something you hate and you'll be off to the races.
