Lola Jaye Orphan Sisters was inspired by the journey my parents, aunties and uncles took from Nigeria to England in the late fifties. The racism and hostility they faced just because they desired a 'better life' for themselves and their children is something I found difficult to write about, whilst realising this is something that still happens today.
Lola Jaye I'm currently working on another saga, this time set in the 1940's and spanning thirty years and two counties- the UK and America. Having recently lived in the USA I wanted to incorporate this into the next book. I haven't finished the first draft yet but I'm getting there!
Lola Jaye I have to step away from the computer! Take a break: go out: watch a show. And then go back to it when I feel ready. Sometimes, a break is all it takes!
Lola Jaye Never, ever give up on your dreams and goals. I had a five year break in terms of publishing my latest novel Orphan Sisters- and during that time, I never gave up. I knew I would be published again. Self belief + hardwork = results.
Lola Jaye I get to live a thousand other lives, throughout the course of my life. And it's okay.
