C.K. Phillips How many of us get to create our own world? As a writer, I can do that. I can make it good, bad, or ugly. I can fill a character with all the traits that I would like to have and let that character experience life on his/her own terms.
C.K. Phillips I am working on another novel, one that takes the main characters of Comes the Awakening and follows them in another adventure. As with Comes the Awakening, it is based on some science, some science fiction (or is it?), and much fiction.
C.K. Phillips Maybe one has to be a genius to be a writer--at least as defined by Thomas Jefferson, who once said that genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. The point that I would make is that the inspiration is there (almost always), but the real secret is "doing the perspiration"--sitting down at the computer and putting words on the paper. Some days that comes easily, but, on those other days, I inspire myself to write when I challenge and force myself to write.
C.K. Phillips I saw The Awakening Statue years ago in Washington and was fascinated--not only by what it obviously portrayed, but also by what it could inspire. When my wife and I later visited the Lunenburg area in Nova Scotia, we fell in love with it. In researching the area, I discovered the story of Oak Island. "There lies a story," I thought.
