David L. Workman Hello, Rosiland. Sorry that I'm just now spotting your question. Which group are you interested in joining?
David L. Workman I'm inspired by people, and the good that's in them, and the good they do. Sometimes, good music stirs the creative juices and motivates me to sit down and write. In writing "Letter from Alabama," I was inspired by the good and decent and caring people who lived and acted out the actual events. I thought their story should be told, because they would inspire others. And, in the process, they inspire me, all over again.
David L. Workman Funny thing is, I had writer's block answering this question. So, here's what helps me: sometimes, I let the subject / question / issue at hand stew inside my head for a while; then I sit down and just start writing a thought or two. I need to be in the right frame of mind. I find a place that feels like a good place to let the ideas and the words flow. Sometimes it's the home office, sometimes the couch, sometimes a comfy chair, sometimes the porch or patio or deck. Then I just start writing, backspace deleting, and writing some more. Next thing I know, I've written it. The important thing is to sit down and start. There, I did it! (Thanks for the question; I needed it.)
