Victoria Alexander The Lady Travelers Guide to Happily Ever After comes out in September and that might be the last. :)
Victoria Alexander You didn't mention whether you're actually writing. A writer writes. And yeah, this is a tough business. It's competitive and it's discouraging. Nothing you can do about that. Focus on your writing, on telling to stories you want to tell. Write to please yourself because everything else is out of your control.
Victoria Alexander Narnia. Narnia captured my imagination in the 5th grade and I've always wanted to visit. I would simply wander around trying to see everyhting I've read about. :)
Victoria Alexander Hi Anisha,

Set small goals. Finish a page, a chapter, a book. It's pretty daunting at first so try not to get overwhelmed. Then, when you finish one project, start on the next. Don't give up. And read. Read what you want to write but read other genres too. It all helps stimulate your creativity. :)

Good luck!
Victoria Alexander Hi Martha,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you.

The family tree is only on the website. and apparently it vanished when I changed servers. But I'm working on a redesign right now so hopefully you'll be able to access the fmaily tree soon. In the meantime, there's a post on my website
http://www.victoriaalexander.com/2011...
that explains the family connections between the Effington books.

Sop glad you like my books!!!
Victoria Alexander Hi Elaine,

I'm so sorry—I thought I'd answered you but I guess I didn't. Lost in my own world I guess. :)

Lord Stillwell's Excellent Engagements—a novella—is available as an ebook on Amazon. It's also in the back of The Importance of Being Wicked—which is Lord Stillwell's story. Hope that helps!
Victoria Alexander I never rule anything out. :) But I have no plans for Clarissa at the moment. Thanks for asking!
Victoria Alexander Hi Violet,
Portia's story--in her own words--is told in Same Time, Next Christmas. Right now, it's only available as an e-book. Hopw you like it!!!
Victoria Alexander I'm playing around with a series of stories for Clara and Phinneas. Hope to start working on those soon. Thanks for asking! :)
Victoria Alexander Read a lot. Write all the time. And don't give up--keep plugging away. The more you write, the better you get :)
Victoria Alexander When I'm stuck--I set a timer for an hour and force myself to do nothing but write whatever comes to mind. Usually, it sucks. Then I set the timer for another hour. After a couple hours, writing all that stuff that doesn't work seems to loosen my thoughts up and I can finally write something worthwhile

But it won't work if you don't have some kind of story to start with. So try beginning with writing down your ideas for plots or characters.
Hope this helps!
Victoria Alexander Hi Doris,

Honestly, I'm not sure how many more Millworth books there will be. And yes--Daring Exploits continues the Effington series. I am also playing with a followup to that book that will definitely be 3rd generation Effington. I am working on revamping my enitre website and the family trees are definitely part of that. Thanks for asking and I'm so sorry it took me so long to answer. I didn't realize I actually had a question. :)
Victoria Alexander I'm not sure where the idea for The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding came from initially. But I have always liked the concept of people who think they know everything about themselves discovering that they were all wrong. That's when anything can happen. ☺
Victoria Alexander Honestly, I have no idea. But it would be good to know. f I knew the answer, I could harness or trigger inspiration. It would be really helpful!☺
Victoria Alexander I'm between books at the moment. I just finished The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress (out May 2015) and I'm looking at a couple of different projects. Maybe a new Christmas book.
Victoria Alexander If this is really what you want to do—don't give up. But do finish one project before you move on to the next. Finishing a book (or a novella, or short story or whatever you want to write) is the absolute first step. And when you've finished one, move on to the next. Resist the urge to keep working on one project forever. Nothing will be ever be as perfect as you want it because you will always be your own biggest critic. But write to please yourself, write the kind of book you like to read. This is too hard not to enjoy what you're doing.
Victoria Alexander I get to go anywhere, I get to do anything, I get to be anyone I want. There are all sorts of things I'll never do in real life but as a writer, I can do them all. It's very cool. ☺
Victoria Alexander Reading something completely different from what I write usually gets me through writer's block. Or driving. My characters tend to talk to me when I'm in a car. Why yes, other drivers do stare when I talk back. ☺
