I've never had. My problem is the opposite: finding enough time to dedicate to writing.

Write, and then rewrite and reread and rewrite over again until it feels right.
There are two philosophies to writing. One is that your write for yourself and publish for others. The other is that you write for publication even if that means "drowning" your kittens, that is, deleting what you yourself likes but doesn't help get the document published.

This question has two parts. What inspired me to write, and what inspired me to write in English.
The first part is easy: I've always loved literature and I've always written.
The second part is trickier. I initially began writing in Spanish. What motivated me to write in English was Nabokov's Lolita. Someone once said that in Lolita the story is secondary to the use of the language. I agree. I enjoyed the discovery of language that writing in English produced.

Ithaca and the experience of college at Cornell burned such a vivid impression on my life that I always new that one day I would write about it. The experience changed me. Many experiences were unique.
At the same time, Cornell was well known for the number of suicides. I would always answer whatever could drive someone to suicide in such a beatiful setting and in the midst of so much interesting intellectual events and discussions. This is one possibility.
