Hi Mckenzie
I really appreciate you reading and I’m so glad you enjoyed. The short answer to your question is “not at the moment,” but you can find a longer explanation here (the post is free to all)

Hi Grace. Thank you for reading and for your kind words. Advocate is only getting the TPB release that came out this April.

Hello. Thanks for reading and enjoying!
Well, I very much want to write more books about Aelis. In fact, I know the sharp outlines of Book 4, the rough of Book 5, and I can see the hazy, indistinct form of Book 6. But the publisher bought a trilogy, and is only publishing these three books.
I really, truly hope that I get to return to Aelis and her world someday, and not too far off. But right now I don't know exactly what that looks like.

Hi David,
Thanks for reading, and I appreciate you recommending it to your friends. I love hearing that.
I am afraid that the likleihood of sequels is pretty low, and I can't make any promises. I hope to be able to revisit the world in sequels some day. For the time being, all I can do is say that I hope you'll enjoy my next work, THE WARDEN, coming from Tor Books in Spring 2023.
Thank you again.

I'm afraid not, Glyn. Thank you for reading.

(view spoiler)[Hi Daniel,
Overall loved the series (and well done partnering with Michael Kramer -- I go out of my way to find things he narrates, which is how i found the Paladin series). One thing I was hoping to understand better was the (seemingly senseless) death of Arontes Innadon .. it seemed like he was being built-up to be a big (regal) part of a better future that Allystaire and company were paving the way for? (view spoiler)[Hi Brian,
Thanks for reading. I appreciate your generous comments.
As for Arontis's death being senseless, well, lots of deaths in war are senseless. The sorcerers killed many people throughout the trilogy, directly or indirectly. Allystaire and company couldn't save all of them, and Arontis happened to be directly in the Eldest's line of fire at a particularly bad moment.
Arontis's death is an obstacle for the future Allystaire was trying to give the baronies, certainly. It means their victory was not complete, but victories rarely are.
I have reasons of my own - story construction, meta author type reasons - for why Arontis had to die. I'd rather not get into those. In terms of the story itself...Arontis's death is no more or less senseless than that of the rest of the men and women who died during Braech's Crusade. (hide spoiler)]

Hi Dave.
I can't answer this question as specifically as I'd like to because announcements haven't been officially made yet. However, I can say the following things:
1. I have another book coming out in 2019
2. It is the start of a new series
3. It is not fantasy or sci-fi.
I hope to be able to say more at a later time. But I would also add that I am certainly not done with fantasy, nor am I done with the world of The Paladin Trilogy, though the story of those characters at that time is concluded.
Thanks for reading.

Mark,
It wouldn't quite be truthful to say I've studied HEMA or ARMA or read period fight manuals. The only martial art I've studied at all, really, is western boxing. I did do some research into the combat that goes into the books, and strive for a verisimilitude, where the fighting feels real (enough) for the reader. I also have a close friend and beta reader who does study and compete in HEMA and other martial arts, and I got tips from him as I worked. I'm glad that the fighting feels real enough for this question to come up, and I hope you continue to enjoy Ordination.

Scheduled for Fall 2018. The last draft was just finalized and is being prepared to go to ARCs in the spring.

Robert,
An Audible version is definitely in the works for Stillbright, and as soon as I have a release date I'll be letting the world know via social media (twitter, my blog, Goodreads all included). Thanks for listening.
Best,
Dan Ford

I did, I do, and I will continue to play D&D! I even run an "RPG Club" elective at the high school where I teach. If you could occasionally hear the dice rolling behind the scenes in Ordination, you weren't wrong. Thanks for reading!

Hi Adrian. Thanks for your question.
I love the cover art of all 3 books of The Paladin Trilogy (by the amazing Kerem Beyit (http://kerembeyit.daportfolio.com/). It is true that the cover of Book 2 doesn't quite accurately match Allystaire's description from Ordination. In the book, he's broken nosed, his face is jagged with scars and lumpy. The guy on the cover of Stillbright is much better looking than that!
I'd note, though, that the cover of Ordination isn't exactly accurate either; Allystaire's hammer is a simple maul, and he isn't wearing brilliantly inlaid plate armor when the Goddess comes to him either, but rather riding leathers.
The point of making that comparison is to say that the role of cover art isn't so much making a 100% accurate depiction of a scene from the book, but rather to grab the prospective reader's attention and give a sense of the book and its themes.
So yes, Allystaire on the cover of Stillbright is too handsome. Idgen Marte doesn't wear her hair in that many braids (well, she might sometimes, but the book never says so. Her sword is also long and curved, not short and broad.
But I love the cover because it frames the characters and it foregrounds their relationship, with Idgen Marte at Allystaire's right hand, ready to defend him from a threat he doesn't even see yet.
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy Stillbright next year.

Work every day. Sit down at the desk every single day. Inspiration insofar as it isn't a total myth, happens when you're already working.

I don't believe in it.
