E.M. Tippetts I need to decide if I'll have it out next June, or maybe the following January. I'd like to launch another series, so I've got some juggling to do. If you aren't already on my mailing list, that's the best place to get updates as I have them: http://eepurl.com/vS_wz
E.M. Tippetts It very much depends on a lot of factors. Later installments in a series are faster than the first book, because a lot of the foundations have already been laid. To write a book in a new world with new characters from scratch can take anywhere from 9 months to a year and a half.

But I'm also old enough at this point that I have a lot of really old, badly written books that I'm redrafting and fixing up. Those go faster, but how much faster depends on how bad that first draft is. There are some that are really, really awful, but I still love the ideas and characters. I'm currently working on three of those.

My Jason and Chloe books take about 45 days to write the first draft, and then another month to tune up, with a 3-4 month rest period in between those. That 3-4 months is just as important as the time I spend actually typing, as I need to be able to get some emotional distance before I can edit properly.

E.M. Tippetts I'm *finally* in the final draft of this science fiction novel an agent wants to see, and I'll jump right into the next Jason and Chloe book next. I always aim to release the books no more than a year apart, but I'll take as long as I need on this next book to make sure it's the best I can make it. I anticipate it'll come out around the usual January release date, but I'll post the exact date on my website once I know for sure!
E.M. Tippetts So glad you liked it :-) Right now I'm rewriting an old novel for an agent to take a look at, and then I'll start work on the next Fairytale installment. I hope to have it out later on this year, but as always, I'll take as long as it needs to take to be a good book. So far, I've been able to release one Fairytale book each calendar year.
E.M. Tippetts Sorry, I was in the middle of prepping for the launch when this question came through. It is out now!
E.M. Tippetts Chloe, and her relationship with her sister, Beth. The title is meant to be ironic, which should be pretty clear when you see the cover. These two are on their way to being very close friends.
E.M. Tippetts Yep. My Wicked Half-Sister will be out towards the end of this year/beginning of next. I'm going to try not to go a full year without releasing another installment, and I've got plenty more stories to tell about Chloe and Jason.
E.M. Tippetts Celebrity romance is a very popular sub-genre, and it usually follows the Cinderella formula, with the famous guy as the prince. One day I was hit with the idea for a character who catches the eye of a superstar, but she doesn't really know or care who he is, and that struck me as funny. The scene I had in mind was one where the superstar shows up on her doorstep to spoon feed her ice cream and she reacts like a normal person: uncomfortable and a little weirded out by it. That character eventually became Chloe Winters, and the superstar became Jason Vanderholt, and the ice cream scene is in the book.

In my mind, this book is a satire, poking fun at the ideas of celebrity and perfect men, but at the same time, I didn't want to be shallow about it. I didn't want my characters to be flat archetypes that nobody could relate to, so I spent several drafts thinking hard about how to make the story feel real. In the end of the day, I hope that people find my characters relatable, even if their situation is a little absurd. Everyone's life is a little absurd in one way or another, I suppose.
E.M. Tippetts I am writing it right now and the current plan is to release it just before Thanksgiving weekend this year. On Tuesday, (July 15th), I'm releasing A Safe Space, which is a Fairytale spinoff novel. The main character is Lizzie Warner, Kyra Armijo's roommate - so lots of Kyra, but no Chloe and Jason in that one.

The title of the third Fairytale book is The Hunt for the Big Bad Wolf. I already have the cover, and the designer did an awesome job!
