I pause. I read A LOT. Take a walk or spend time binge-watching TV shows.

Write, even when you don't feel like it, just keep going. Get the story down on paper no matter how rubbish it is...you can fix it later, write!

Way back when I first began to write it was an emotional reaction, now I'm almost always ready. Though a walk through the country, a really great song, spending time with my family, seeing a photo/painting...anything can spark a story....you just need to start with a single word and just keep writing :)

I was working (scanning a document to be precise) and a letter from a mother to her child drifted into my head. I began to write it down and the story evolved into Inherited :)
