Holly Jacobs My first love was Heinlein's Lazarus Long. His story with Dora was lovely. It was one of my first "romances."
Holly Jacobs Hi, Marlene! I consider most of my books G rated. Some as much as PG. A Father's Name is somewhere in that range. Hope that helps.
Holly Jacobs Hi, Sky!! I do have such a massive girl crush on Joss Whedon! His dialogue in whatever show is just amazing. And Whedon is fictional, but in my minds eye, it was positioned near Edinboro, Pa. Almost all my books are set in and around Erie, but I am enjoying fictionalizing small towns like Whedon, Valley Ridge and Cupid Falls on the outskirts of Erie. I get to set things up to my liking, and yet still get so showcase my favorite city!!

Thanks for asking!!
Holly Jacobs My most recent book is Christmas in Cupid Falls. It's a sweet, small town, holiday romance. It's set in between the very real Waterford, PA and Union City, PA. Part of the inspiration is we have a camp out that way. It's such a beautiful part of town. George Washington visited Waterford once. That's another part of the inspiration. GW's visit became the inspiration for the Legend of Cupid's Falls.

From Christmas in Cupid Falls:

<<
To the south of Erie, Pennsylvania—south of the Great Lake that shares a name with the city—is Falls Creek. It is bigger than most creeks, but not quite large enough to be considered a river. It runs through field and forest to a ridge, carved millennia ago by a glacier. There, it plunges over the edge, falling to a hollowed-out swimming hole before becoming a creek again and meandering on its way.

Local legend has it that when George Washington visited the nearby town of Waterford in 1753, one of his retinue was touring the area. The locals took him to the falls, and there he met a farmer’s daughter. He married her later that same year and they settled near the creek. Years later, their daughter went to the falls with a group of friends and noticed that one of the boys in the group might be more than a friend. They married later that same year. And so it went, year after year, decade after decade, couple after couple, until the small waterfall, which in actuality was little more than a creek tumbling over a small cliff, became known as Cupid’s Falls.
When a town grew up a few miles away, the residents named it Cupid Falls as an homage to their waterfall.

And to this day, it is said that when two people meet at the falls and declare their love, they are destined for a long, happy romance . . .

Even if that’s not what they went to the falls looking for.
Holly Jacobs It's part of the rhythm of my day. It's something I do...like breathing. So I don't wait for inspiration...I just do it.
Holly Jacobs I'm working on a new book that will be out in November 2015. The working title is The Way We Used to Be. It's my Forest Gump meets While You Were Sleeping women's fiction/romance hybrid. It has the same sort of feel as Just One Thing and April '15's Carry Her Heart.
Holly Jacobs Write. Write something, anything, every day.

I've given this advice for years and occasionally see people roll their eye in that 'duh' sort of way. I know it sounds simplistic, but truly, writing every day is hard. But I think it's important...it makes writing part of your every day routine. And routines are easier to stick to. Sort of like breathing. You do it every day without thinking...that's what I want my writing to be, something that's part of the rhythm of my life!
Holly Jacobs Being able to go to work in pajamas! LOL
Holly Jacobs I don't get writer's block. Oh, occasionally a book gets stuck, but that generally means I took a wrong turn. When I go back and figure out where that was and correct, I tend to be back on track!
