I just finished the third book in the SEALs of Roseville series, set in and around a small town outside of Atlanta. This book follows former SEAL Boomer Jameson as his former childhood friend and crush, the woman who broke his heart right before graduation, storms back into his life. She's changed and he's not just talking about that killer ass. Her shyness has disappeared and she's set her sights on him. She wants a Second Chance with Her SEAL.

Personally, I adore exploring new places. From foreign countries to made up worlds, house plans to fictional secret gardens, I love exploring those places in my mind and bringing them to the page. I like people watching and incorporating neat tidbits, habits and quirks into my characters. I enjoy hanging out with people who struggle and rise above, who fall in love one word at a time. I like weaving obstacles and rewards and making readers cry, sigh, laugh and smile. I guess I can't pick just one. :)

I try to think outside of the box. This is hard sometimes. But I can usually tell during the first draft if things are too simple or too predictable. That's the point where I go back and start asking what if. I also make a list of 10 and write down 10 possibilities.
For instance, in Pursued by a Werewolf, I needed to keep Avery and Hunter together long enough for her to sort out her feelings. So I made a list of 10 things that would keep her on Mystic Isle.
On that list, there were obvious reasons: her friends are there, she has an appointment at the spa at the end of the week, etc.
The option that won was for her to teach a princess yoga since she is a yoga instructor. This works out extra well since the princess and Hunter are old friends and Hunter asks the princess to request the private yoga lessons as a favor.
Avery stays on Mystic Isle. Hunter has an excuse to be near Avery (he decides to take yoga lessons too.) Find out if the ploy worked in Pursued by a Werewolf. ;-)

My favorite thing about being a writer is sharing stories that influence and educate readers. There's no better feeling that hearing that one of my stories has touched a reader's life, gotten them through a rough patch or taught them to follow their heart. I have the best readers in the universe, I really do.
