Jeffrey Marsh My fave book so far this summer has been John Green’s ‘The Anthropocene Reviewed.’ I’ve also been thoroughly enjoying Bruce Feiler’s ‘Life Is In the Transitions.’ Happy reading!
Jeffrey Marsh I just had a trip to NYC to meet with some VIPs about a TV show. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
Jeffrey Marsh I do! I study with a sangha that grew out of the Monastery where I trained. So, I am following along in that same tradition! Since a Sangha is one of the “three jewels” of practice, as supposedly identified by the Buddha, it is essential to have folks on the path you can sit and practice with.
Jeffrey Marsh If nothing comes, I wait. I actually have deadlines from my publisher, but often, it's ok to stretch things and wait for the universe to speak. When I studied at the Buddhist Monastery, my teacher always said, "It's never too late to do nothing." So I strive never to feel rushed to create or to write.
Jeffrey Marsh She never learned the truth. She never realized that she was a good person after all.
Jeffrey Marsh I adore this question! As a Buddhist, I travel a lot. But I don't go on trips. It is my great pleasure (and one of my most beloved accomplishments) that I have traveled almost everywhere a human can go *within themselves.* I travel to all parts of the human spirit and mind. That's what spiritual practice has brought into my life. I bring this up because this kind of "travel" highlights one of the biggest mysteries of being human: "Why the heck do we mistreat ourselves?" Why is our self-talk so...trash? Is there an evolutionary reason? A spiritual reason? Now, exploring that would make a great book!
Jeffrey Marsh This will be a very Jeffrey answer, but I am me, after all! Do your best to drop trying to write "well." I mean, stop trying to impress other people with your writing and concentrate much more on writing from the heart. Work on articulating your unvarnished truth instead of worrying about being seen as a "great writer." I always assume people want to connect with me, so I do my best to write very straightforwardly. I hope this helps!
