When I'm stuck, I incorporate variety into what I do. I exercise, listen to music related to what I'm writing, watch movies with the same theme. The important thing is to get out of the house/office if you can. We need energy as human beings, and I often find myself taking my laptop to my daughter's soccer practice or to the library. Isolation equals creativity for writers, but all the same we need a certain charge we get from being around other people.

Reaching deep. We're all deeper than we appear, but to be able to sprinkle little facets of my personality or experiences all over various characters - well, there's something inherently therapeutic about that. I love stepping into the minds of my characters.

Write away, right away. Even if you feel like what you're writing is garbage, write it anyway. Lose yourself in your work, and worry about editing later. Read and write. A steady diet of that will build artistic muscle and soothe the soul.

I've written and finished a paranormal romance about a ghost soldier in St. Augustine that is currently being edited. At the moment I'm working on a contemporary romance novel about a young ER nurse who wants to be a surgeon, who meets a young veteran coming back from the Iraq War. It's a sort of finding-our-feet sort of trope. I'm enjoying it immensely. ;)

I wake up. :) I've always been inspired to write. It's a fantastic form of expressionism in its rawest state. When I'm looking for more inspiration, I listen to music that makes me think of what I'm meant to be writing. There's a playlist on my website for ATHOTS in the original first blogpost I did, for anyone interested.

I got the idea for ATHOTS (At the Heart of the Stone) from many different places I've traveled. I am interested in the human dynamic; what makes us change, come together in a relationship, and grow as people. Lark sort of walked fully formed into my head, and I went from there.
