C.C. Rae I had a brand new pair of running shoes, red and white Nikes. When I first started wearing them and they were fresh and clean I had the thought that it would be incredibly unfortunate to find yourself running through a muddy forest the day you put on a new pair of shoes. I live in the desert, there isn't a muddy forest anywhere nearby. But this fragment of a scene stuck in my head and got me wondering, what was happening, why would someone be running through a forest, what were they running toward or from? That was the start of it all. Nicole's muddy chase through the forest didn't even end up in the book by the time it was published, but I still have the running shoes.
C.C. Rae Mostly my imagination plagues me with an idea, or a plethora of ideas, until I cave and start writing. The only way I can concentrate on anything is else to get the ideas written down.
C.C. Rae I am working on my next book, Lost Prophecy, book two in the Hidden Magic series. The book is entirely written but required some changes and revising. I am currently improving and preparing the manuscript for submission to the publishing process.
C.C. Rae Just write. Don't be so self critical that you stop yourself before you even start. We all have to start somewhere. Don't compare yourself to your favorite writers, and don't be afraid to share your work with people. Letting others read my work was the greatest hurtle for me. Once I realized that I could learn something and improve with every outside opinion, I stopped being so afraid.
C.C. Rae I have never been the kind of writer who can force out a scene when details just aren't coming to me. Thankfully I have so many stories I plan on telling that I allow myself to take a break from whatever has me blocked and work on something else, another scene, another book, a blog, or even just writing in my journal instead.
