First, I apologize for answering so late. I thought questions from readers are deemed important enough that Goodreads will send some sort of notification to authors. Now, to answer your question in a general sense--many things took me to China, things that would need paragraphs of exposition, things that most women would understand even when there are none. I started Wing Chun there; it's a sort of self-defense art that I thought I needed to know if I want to breathe fearlessly when I'm alone outside my home. I'm still not fearless enough to do so, but I'm not as scared. I hope it answers enough.

I think at first it was mostly Middle-Grade thrillers and fantasies. Then it became more thrillers and more fantasies until I got my hands into some all-time-great literary pieces. I realized how much patience one needs to craft with words. I think it's harder than painting with colors (for me, at least). The moment I realized it, books became my number one fascination. So, in the end, I would say it's not a genre or two that makes me read. It's how the pages are built.
