Hi Cintia, I hope you're still writing! I'm so sorry that I'm only seeing your question now! You have to write for you, not for anyone else, don't worry about getting rejected before you've started, your book could be the most amazing thing for years - there are loads of people wanting to be writers, but very few who actually finish a first draft and who then put the real work in polishing it. Ideas come when you open your mind - don't put yourself underpressure, it might take 6 months for bits of ideas to arrive. They won't come as finished ideas, they come as bits of ideas and it's you putting them together and thinking on them that makes a story. So sorry I've only just spotted this! My summer reading list always had Jane Casey's latest book right at the top, but I've just read CL Taylors Her Last Holiday, out at the end of April (2021!), and it was incredible. I've had a weekend reading binge (very rare, I should be writing!) and have just finished The Flatshare too which was unbelievably brilliant!

Best advice I was ever given was by author Sarah Webb - 'just keep writing' also writing is rewriting - the minute you put the full stop down on your first draft, that's the time the work really begins!

Being able to escape into my characters' world!

I find if I get stuck it's because I've gone wrong somewhere - a character has said something out of character for instance. I go back to where it was working and try and work out where it went wrong! I think writer's block is your subconscious ringing alarm bells!
