Frances Maynard I've just finished a book, provisionally called The End of the Sentence, about a young woman with dyslexia and anger issues. She's a very different character from Elvira in The Seven Imperfect Rules of Elvira Carr but she also has to struggle to find her own way in life.
Frances Maynard I like writing about marginalised characters who get a second chance in life. Many of the students I work with would fit that category.
Frances Maynard I think ideas come from experiences being mashed up in your subconscious! Saying that my own mother did have a stroke and, at the time of writing, my husband was working in an ape sanctuary.
