When I'm struggling to write I keep at it, even if I know it's total garbage. It's easier to fix something terrible--or even to throw the whole thing out and start again--than to face the same blank page you saw the previous day. I have a writing/critique partner, and when I'm really stuck I find that talking it through with a sympathetic person helps me get back on track.

On the other hand, the fragility of a dancer's life, and the intense emotions involved in pursuing a career onstage--that part is very real and one I know well.
