I would go back to the Scottish Highlands and Northumberland to conduct research for the books. I was lucky enough to visit both this summer but didn't get nearly enough time for research since we were on a Disney Cruise with the kids. Both were absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to return!

I go back to the research. As a medieval/historical romance author, the research is always the starting point and even one fact can spark an entire story.

I am currently plotting Border Series Book #3 and moving into Scotland a bit with my first Scottish hero.

Calm.com is great for inspiration! If I'm writing a scene in the bedchamber, for instance, with a roaring fire in the background of the scene, I'll put the "fireplace" on calm.com and try to imagine I am actually there.

I got the idea for the Border Series more than 20 years ago in college while taking a class as an English lit major on Chaucer.
