How do you deal with writer’s block?
Thomas Lockhaven By simply writing. There are days that I write, and I know that what I'm writing is going straight in the trash, but I write anyways.I truly believe that when I have off days, it's my brain trying to work out an issue. There have been times where I've written for a week, and then taken 15k words and thrown them in the trash. The answer to writers block is to just keep writing, and eventually your creativity will begin to flow again.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Thomas Lockhaven Calista Chase, Time Sleuth is going to Salem Massachusetts during the Salem Witch trials to try and save a family that has been marked for death. I live in Boston, and I've been to Salem numerous times. The witch trials have always fascinated me, so I decided to write a book about a girl that uses her abilities to time travel to solve mysteries and help families / people in need. I'm also using this opportunity to teach history lessons in each book.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Thomas Lockhaven Find something that you are passionate about and write. Write EVERY day. Try to improve something about your writing every day. Go to a park, and people watch. Describe the person in detail. How do they walk? Do they have any quirky mannerisms? Are they left or right handed? Work on writing about being in the moment not just an observer. You can do this by working on your dialogue. Most people like to be a part of the scene or the action and not just a passive onlooker. My last bit of advice is to make sure that what you write is constantly moving the story forward. I hope this helps!

What are you currently working on?
Thomas Lockhaven I'm currently working on four books. A Christmas cozy mystery, A Role To Die For, a new Calista Chase book about the Salem Witch Trials, Quest Chasers 3, and a new Christmas Ava and Carol Detective Agency book.
