Maggie Jane Schuler The best thing about being a writer—hmm—engrossing yourself in the characters and allowing them to express themselves freely as they develop.
Maggie Jane Schuler Resurrection was born through some loosely based personal connections. Each character came to me in segments over about a months time. I knew I was gearing up for NaNoWriMo too, and I needed a solid story. It was nice they showed up prior to the time I needed words on a page!
Maggie Jane Schuler I've always had stories bouncing around in my head, but never the time to sit and pen them. Once I completed my Masters a few years back the time constraint opened up, and writing was a great release. Writing down the journey of my characters is also a nice way to get them to stop talking in my head!
Maggie Jane Schuler Writing is organic and ever changing. What you write today may not be what you write tomorrow. As a writer, you must give yourself permission to make mistakes and time to fix the things which make you uncomfortable. You should also surround yourself with good people who motivate you to be the best you can be on any given day.
