Everything came to me in a dream. A girl stood before me in a star flecked landscape, her face saddened and understanding. Reaching her soft hand out, she touched my cheek as flashes of memories flooded my vision. She squinted her eyes as the rush of stimulation slowed, finally stopping on a painful time in my life. With the wave of her hand, she smiled as the memory crumbled before my eyes. I woke up the next day and began writing about this healer, this girl, Nora.

Being a musician since childhood has opened up life to me in so many ways. I have become more sensitive and in tune with the world around me and I've really spent the time to sharpen my ability to draw inspiration from existence itself.

'Of the Rising Sun' (the second book in the Dreaming in the Shadows series) is in full edit mode. In between corrections from the editor and making sure the story is presented in the best way possible I am writing the third and final novel for the series titled 'Beyond the Curved Walls'.

Allowing yourself to completely submerge into a character. Feel what they would feel, react how they would react. I think this simple action can grant any author the ability to become more empathetic to the world around them.

The trick to dealing with writer's block is to find inspiration again. For me that usually comes when my mind is mostly mindless and performing a monotonous task. Showering, sleeping, listening to music, taking a nice walk, these are where some of my best ideas come to light. Find that subconscious day dream state and let your thoughts drift to the edges of the eternal ocean.
