I'm writing two books right now - the forth Ducal Detective book actually was inspired at the conclusion of writing the first book. A friend of mine went "what if" and I knew I had to revisit old relationships and dig deeper into the Duchess's past to show a well-rounded character. As for the new project I'm working on, I've been inspired by so many authors in the "cozy mystery" genre of late, where you have a woman who has an interesting/odd job in her community and she gets involved with a mystery. I wanted to create a contemporary hero and these types of books really inspired me, especially the work of Denise Swanson.

I love hearing what people think of my books. I love to watch them talk through their thought process regarding the mystery or which characters speak to them the most. I can see in their faces their enjoyment and the deepening connection to the series. I got into writing because I wanted to create characters that people could look up to, and watching that happen is amazing. Seeing your influence out in the world is really stunning.

Take a break and write something else. The Ducal Detective series came out of a serious case of writer's block I had with another project. I needed some space from the characters, so I decided to write something completely different and that's when Jax made her debut!
