Hi Sharon,
That's an interesting question. In my head I hear it as 'car' so that it is a shortened version of Cara and is used by the people who love her most.
Best wishes,
Imogen.

(view spoiler)[My name is unusual here, so yours caused me to read Where.... Just finished Postcards and have to say you surprised me twice! (1st degree is also in Lit, and I teach in a univ. English dept, so for an avid reader, surprises are a plus!) 1st: Mrs. P is Mum - I spoke aloud, "WHAT? I should've known!" 2nd: No, she isn't - surprised again! Such fun! No question, just applause. HI Donna. Absolutely nothing! I'm not quite sure why the publisher chose it but I do like it. Coincidently though, the four kids look spookily like my four when they were younger and I had to check with them that they didn't mind because I didn't want anyone to assume that I had a favourite amongst them!!
I'm so pleased that you enjoy my books. Thanks for letting me know.
Best wishes,

Thanks for your message. I hope you manage to get the hang of the structure and enjoy the story!

Hi Julie and thank you for your kind words.
I run a Facebook page and the usual social media and I have a website but other than the marketing done for me by my publisher Lake Union I think sales have mainly been down to word of mouth and reviews.
Best wishes

Hi Stephen.
I'm so pleased you enjoyed Postcards.
Yes, there has been a quantity of champagne consumed over the last year - on the deal, publication and then it hitting the number 1 slot in the UK and Australia! It's all been very exciting so far. And my second book THE THING ABOUT CLARE is out on 1st December so I'm hoping to be able to do it all over again!
Regards,
Imogen.

Just finished Postcards from a Stranger. Great book. I'm typically a slow reader but I couldn't put this down. And I saw the sequence!

(view spoiler)[I was contemplating running away after a particularly challenging day at home with my four children and that made me wonder what might make a mother leave her children. (hide spoiler)]

I ask myself 'what if?' and if the answer is interesting then I'll start to jot ideas down. Sometimes the ideas go nowhere. Sometimes they sit in my head for months or even years before I can work out how they might make a book.

I am currently working on the edits of my next book 'The Thing about Clare' which will be published later in 2017. I'm also filling my notebook with ideas for the book after that which is very exciting. I love a new project.

Write every day. Even if it's only a few words, it's amazing how quickly they add up and before you know it you have a whole story. And read. I don't think you can write if you don't read.

The freedom to go on adventures that real life hasn't yet taken you on.

I just keep writing. If my characters misbehave I put them somewhere new to see what happens. What results doesn't always end up in the book but at least it kick starts the little grey cells again!

I suspect it will be predominantly Crime as I am going to the Theakston's Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate in July and I always come away from that with masses of books I need to read having heard their authors speak.
