Most inspiration comes in the middle of the night so I spend a lot of time scribbling notes in the dark. I think you have to be incredibly observant to be a writer...jot down anything that catches your attention...it could come in handy when you're looking for just the right word or setting.

I have to force myself to walk away physically and mentally from the work. Surround yourself with anything but writing...I cleaned out my closet which I'm pretty sure had not been done since I started writing my novel. One famous author had his wife hide all his clothes until he met his deadline giving an all new meaning to the term bare essentials.
