(view spoiler)[You are my favorite author. In your Sookie Stackhouse series, nearing the end Sookie gets a chance at 1 wish. And then in the very end she ends up with Sam. I’ve always wished (what are your thoughts?) about this instead: that 1 wish is to turn Eric human and Sookie and Eric get to live a life in the sun growing old together. (hide spoiler)]

Eric would still have been Eric, in that scenario, and I think he would have come to hate Sookie for turning him human. But it's an interesting idea.

Lynn, my Gunnie Rose books are full of witchcraft and magic, as well as a lot of gun fighting. There are six of them, so you can enjoy. I don't know that I'll ever write vampires again. But I'm looking forward to what comes next.

Thanks, Susan. My publisher determined this would be the last Gunnie Rose book, but that having been said, it certainly has a huge ending. I'll be writing something new, and having a good time, as always. Thanks for reading and listening to my work.

The company that made the game quit doing original work, so the sequel got sidelined. I was just as disappointed as you were.
Charlaine Harris
Thanks. I hope you've also enjoyed my most recent series, the Gunnie Rose books. I have thought of a spin off book, but I really haven't plotted one. The Midnight Texas books contained one or two of the characters from Sookie series.
Charlaine Harris
That's great to hear. I am so lucky to have loyal readers.

Hi, Sheena. So glad you have enjoyed the books. "The Last Wizards' Ball" will be out in July 2025. I hope you like it.
Sheena
OHHHH I finished Gunnies last book & my heart was so broken that she didn't go the way I thought she would. But it was a good ending. :) I can't wait

Thanks, I really enjoyed writing those books. The publisher has made it clear they don't want anymore Midnight books, but maybe someday I'll write one for myself.

I'd enjoy writing another book about them, but I'd have to see if my original publisher would want it. I'm not going to say "never" on that one.
Charlaine Harris
I can't say that's my favorite genre, but I do love "Four Weddings and a Funeral."
Charlaine Harris
Sure. Glad to talk to you.

I'm not sure I understand, Nellie. Can you explain?

I don't mean to be rude to Nellie but her question made me curious about this as well. I think she meant that considering intrusive thoughts tend to just "pop" into one's brain at random, if Sookie would have been able to read those thoughts just as clearly as she read people's regular thoughts, and how she would have reacted those random intrusive thoughts. Would she have known they were just intrusive thoughts with no real meaning behind them?

(view spoiler)[I'm sorry, I wasn't clear in my question. In the show, the story went further. The story with Eggs and Tara didn't match the book. Also, the relationship with Sam & the lady he hired at the bar (I don't remember her name)
Also, how Bill became King. It was so different from the books, I just wanted to know was that your choice or the tv producers? I enjoy Sookie & you, and I appreciate you taking the time write!! (hide spoiler)]

The television show had its own goals and its own writers. They made the choices.
Charlaine Harris
To clarify, I didn't write the show. I wrote the books. She is a character in the books, yes. She's a maenad.
Charlaine Harris
I don't think I'll ever write another Sookie book. There are six books in my current series, the Gunnie Rose books. You might want to give those a try, if you haven't already.

Tears stream down my face as I realize Sookie's story has reached its natural conclusion. Yet, while her story may have come to an end, I can’t help but imagine a future brimming with possibilities. Perhaps the next series of books lies not with Sookie herself, but with her and Sam’s children—where new mysteries unfold, and the supernatural world stirs once again. There’s always more waiting in the shadows, after all. Just a thought. P.S. I own all of your books and have read them multiple times. You're my absolute favorite author, and I truly hope you never stop writing. Your stories have a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait for whatever you create next!

Charlaine Harris
Sheena, thanks. I have lots of readers who reread the series once a year. If you don't enjoy rereading, I have lots of other books in print you might enjoy.
Charlaine Harris
Yes. "The Last Wizards' Ball" will be out in July of next year.
Charlaine Harris
There are no plans for more Harper books right now. I would enjoy writing another one, I think, but I have quite a lot on my schedule right now; plus, the publisher would have to be willing, too.
Charlaine Harris
Not exactly, but I've known a number of surprising older women who were tied into their community in multiple ways, but still had original characters. Gran provided Sookie with stability in the years she needed it most.
Charlaine Harris
I loved the samples of her work I'd seen. If this edition does well, maybe Grim Oak will consider others.
