I have been writing poetry since I was 12 years old and it started off more as journaling. The majority of my inspiration came from life experiences, other people in my life that have survived tremendous obstacles, strong women that have mentored me and just surrounding myself not only with positive people but by exposing myself to different forms of art.

Never stop writing. If you were inspired by something whether personal or in your own mind, if it keeps you awake at night, it's all you want to talk about and you can't focus on your day to day job, DO NOT STOP! These are indications that you not only have a story to tell, but someone can relate & need to know that they are not the only ones that either had the same experience or longed to FINALLY have a book with your unique flavor.

I usually take a break from writing by doing something fun and completely opposite from what I'm writing. Sometimes it takes a week or a couple months. I go to the museum, or movies and even read something totally out of my normal genre to get inspiration to break the block. It works majority of the time.
