During 2016, I found myself using a lot of apps and saw that a lot of my relationships, with friends and family and at work and elsewhere were determined by how I communicated through those apps. I felt the apps were changing the very dynamics of relationships. I set out to write one story initially and when I finished it, I felt there's more to the concept that could be fleshed out.

Reading the classics and the great writers and reminding myself that the gulf is so wide, that I have to read and write so much more.

Finish what you start, no matter how bad it is. You can always decide later if you want to share it with others or not, but for your own satisfaction, finish that article, page, novella, short story or epic once you start writing it.

The high you get after finishing a writing project is quite unique. Besides, if you primarily write from personal experience(like I do), you get to latch onto the minute details of specific experiences that are dear to you.

I give it a day or two and return to the specific writing problem I am trying to address. If I don't have a good solution, I go ahead and put down whatever seems to me as one of the better options (even though if it's the clumsiest idea) at the time and attempt to finish it.
