Gary Stringer Well, since I don't hang out with Scooby Doo and his gang, I have to say my life is relatively mystery free. In fact, I would say, ironically, the most mysterious thing in my life right now is this question.
Gary Stringer It's like when you're reading something you love and you just have to know what happens next. The only difference is the only way I can find that out, is if I sit down and write it.
Gary Stringer Well, I tried looking in the Ideas Shop, but they didn't have anything new and I wanted to try something different to anything I'd seen before. So I came up with the idea of an in-story narrator, telling a centuries-spanning story to put everything in perspective before committing an illegal and dengerous act that she believes will save the world.
Gary Stringer It's your story - tell it your way.
Gary Stringer Bringing life to characters, building worlds and shaping events according to my own design.
Gary Stringer 1. Trying to attract an audience to my Tempestria series.
2. Doing final checks on Book 3 prior to publication in December.
3. Thinking about cover ideas for Book 4.
4. Writing Book 9.
Gary Stringer I don't think writer's block is a lack of ideas. There are always ideas - the problem is making those ideas take the right shape. Sometimes my fingers can find that shape if I just let them type. If I really can't find what to write, I need to sit down with pen and paper, and do some serious planning. If I don't even know what to plan, then it's time to sit/walk and think for a while.

If you're writing a sequel or series, I often find inspiration in a line I wrote in a previous book that could be explored further.
Gary Stringer Story1: Maria had always had a thing for creatures of the night, so when the vampire came upon her as she was indulging in a midnight feast, she took the initiative and snogged him. The vampire could do nothing as the garlic spread she had been enjoying, worked its way into his system, making him crumble to dust at her feet.

Story 2: When the vampire bore down on the whistling boy, there seemed to be no hope for the lad, but thinking quickly, he told the biggest lie he could think of. His body instantly changed from flesh to wood and his nose grew, staking the vampire.
