I've been writing for a lot of years and have at least six novels that need to be re-written as well as many stories, so I don't really have to worry. My husband would say that I was never the writer in the cliché scenes with the ashtray full of cigarettes and the cursor flashing on the first sentence. That meant when I started I was the queen of overwriting. I've learned to cut down the words a lot.

That question made me smile, its a hard one. I mean coming up with the idea and seeing the story unfold and knowing that it's working is amazing. I've never minded the solitude, I actually love it, but now with Debris out, I think the best thing is having your work read and enjoyed. There's nothing like that.

Write as much as you can and take as much feedback as possible I hated that at the beginning and writers starting out normally do. But now I thoroughly trust my readers and see the criticism as clearing a way to becoming a better writer.

I just finished my second short story collection. My first one is forthcoming with Fomite Press and I am getting 'Patient 55' ready to send out.

I think nowadays you only have to look around you at the stories going on. My new book 'Patient 55' was from an article on saw on the front page of a newspaper ten years ago.

It was a re-write of an old book and Andre was a brother of the main character. There was always the accident and his move to his aunts house, but in the old version he met Erin later. When I had him meet Erin in the housing estate everything changed. The great thing was the characters were all in place for 'Debris' at that stage so I felt as if I had been moving towards it.
