I've just finished book 4 in the 30 Stones Saga and the idea came years ago. I always wondered how, in established fantasy worlds, the first person who had to learn magic did it? It must have started somewhere, right? So who was first and how did they figure it out? My first book, Magic's Genesis: The Grey is my answer to that question. The rest of the books in the series follow from there.

I don't. I just have to sit down and go through the process of wasting 20 minutes looking at social media and email and then finally get to the writing. Once I start, it all goes pretty smoothly. I don't fight the waste anymore, it's just part of the process.

As of today (Dec. 2019) I'm tidying up Red Priest Rising and then I'll start working on Ascension (working title) - book 5 in the series. I've got another series in the back of my head, but I've got to finish the 30 Stones Saga first - I'm thinking it will be 6 books. It was going to be 9, but I can do it in 6.

Write. Read. Write. Accept criticism. Accept that while much criticism is valid, not all of it will apply to you. For every reader who loves your work, someone else won't. Find your people - follow your voice.

As I have a 9-5, I can't really answer this as a 'writer' who does that as my sole profession. Wish I could. Hope I can. Gotta keep plugging away.

I've found that just typing - like writing down my problem and then just random nonsense that comes to me and eventually the problem will solve itself. At least that's what's happened the last couple years. There is a value in treating a piece of paper like a confidant.
