I was leaving Baton Rouge for the last time with my life packed up in the bed of my truck and my dog asleep in the seat next to me when I saw a man walking up Interstate 55 at around 3 am. There wasn't an exit for miles. He didn't have a back pack. He wasn't hitchhiking, and I wondered, "What the hell is he doing?"
I crashed at my grandmother's house in Herrin, IL at 7am. I woke up around noon and started writing about him.
I crammed into that book everything I was ever told I needed to write about someday. It took me four years to write it. One year to edit it, and I published it in 2018

I could be an author... and then suddenly my life made sense.

The best thing about being a writer?
I get to use it as an excuse for all my weird behavior...
But in all seriousness... it is a wonderful excuse.

Can I go to my own? Is that cheating? Because I would so go to the Netherworlds and hang with my imaginary peeps.
And if that's cheating then I would go to the second star to the right and straight on 'til morning or... Middle Earth.
