Mary K. Savarese Both my parents were in German Labor Camps during World War 2. They were Polish & Ukrainian and were Christians.
Mary K. Savarese Sounds just like the question I answered before! As a writer, working your tail off on what you think is a fab manuscript and being rejected time and time again!
Mary K. Savarese I would go to the fictional world of the YA manuscript I am currently working on. However, it is one of those places once you go there you may never come back! What would I do there? Save the world with my other characters!
Mary K. Savarese Great question, thank you. Several years ago I visited a big cat reserve in Florida. I watched in awe a siberian tiger jump into a bubble bath and be sprayed with obsession perfume. What a great title and I worked my story around that along with a wish poster I saw and a friend's betrayal by her cheating husband. Thus, Tigers Love Bubble Baths & Obsession Perfume (who knew) was born!
Mary K. Savarese Thank you for your question. I collect sayings, interesting characters and names, things that have awed me and write them in a little notebook where they wait to come together in a novel. I love quirky titles and that's how I start with a quirky title and those interesting ideas I collected. I begin with a general idea, beginning, an end and develop my characters. I usually only have three chapter outlines at a time as I find once I start writing the story can move in so many different ways than I could have initially imagined. Everything feeds on itself. The joy comes from creativity.

Mary K. Savarese Thank you for your question. I am working on editing my third manuscript, a YA I wrote several years ago and resubmitting it to publishers. One of the best and hardest things I learned was working with a fabulous editor on Tigers Love Bubble Baths & Obsession Perfume (who knew!) They really know their business and now I can appreciate how hard the editor was on my work because I learned so much that I thought I already knew. It was a very humbling process.
Mary K. Savarese Thank you, Love this question. If you wake up everyday with a passion in your heart and soul to write, to create, that has to sustain you because it's not easy. It's a long process. It took me over ten years to get my first manuscript Tigers Love Bubble Baths & Obsession Perfume(who knew!) to be published. It was the 4th manuscript I wrote with many rejections before it and there will be more to come. I'm sure.
Keep writing, submit, pray, stay strong, believe in yourself. If you write one page a day in a year you'll have a manuscript. Have it edited if you can. Never, ever give up if you have the passion! It will happen.
Mary K. Savarese Great question. When a fabulous idea comes to you and you bring it to fruition, create something new, by completing a manuscript. It brings a lot of joy and It can take anywhere for a year to three for me. Then it's a journey of hope, staying strong and always having faith in myself and moving forward.
Mary K. Savarese Thank you for your question. I find that when I do, the best thing is to sit at my laptop and write one word. Then another. My sentence soon becomes a paragraph, many on a page... It gets the juices flowing and more creative ideas develop from it. I don't have the whole book nor a detailed outline in my head when I start, just the general idea, the quirky title, the characters, an idea for an ending. As I write, all the details develop and sometimes change from the direction I initially thought.
