A.S. Mackey Hello! Thanks for reaching out. The short answer is YES! I hope The Edge of Everywhen will be a trilogy; the publisher has book 2 of the series but I haven't heard about their decision to accept it or not. I'll shout it loudly from the rooftops when book 2 is available! Happy Reading :-)
A.S. Mackey I have several projects going at once. That way, if I get stuck on MS #1, I can set it aside and move to MS#2 or #3. Taking a break from the MS is super helpful; sort-of like a reboot. It could be days or weeks before I return to the MS I was stuck on earlier. On a smaller scale, if I'm stuck on Chapter 6, let's say, I'll move on to other Chapters and then come back to it once I've set the MS aside for a bit.
A.S. Mackey Read... A LOT. Every genre, and focus on award-winning literature to get a feel for how it's done well. And write, as often as you can. Set aside time daily, even if it's just a half hour, to turn off the phone/internet and write. Join a writers' group, either in person or online, so that you can exchange manuscripts with other writers. Be open to their honest feedback, and grow a thick skin to accept unbiased critiques. Read "On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft" by Stephen King, and read "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott. These have amazing tips and techniques for the craft. And lastly, have fun with it!
