G.C. Riley I wanted to write a historical romance, but I didn't want to do the same thing most romance writers are doing with the genre. So I came up with the idea of writing a post World War II western romance/drama set in Oklahoma, circa 1945. That's how I came up with the idea for Last Honorable Cowboy.
G.C. Riley I sit down and start typing, even if I don't feel like it. It doesn't take long for the ideas to start flowing.
G.C. Riley Right now I'm working on Book 2 of the Sister's of Red River series. I just released Book 1 which is titled Last Honorable Cowboy: Ellen's Only Hope.
G.C. Riley I know this may sound corny, but my advice would be to never give up... ever! Also write as much as you can. Forget about writing the great American novel schoolchildren will be reading long after you're gone. If you want to be a successful writer, you must produce as much materiel as you can.
G.C. Riley I love the work. Being an indie writer means I have to wear multiple hats. From graphic design for covers to marketing to actually writing, I have to do it all. I'm lucky enough to enjoy all of it. I can't imagine doing anything else.
G.C. Riley First thing I do is tell myself not to panic. Next, I listen to some music. That seems to do it for me. 15 minutes of listening to a good playlist, and I'm off and running again. Thank goodness writer's block has really not been too much of an issue with me.
