I am sorry to hear that, Sheila. I hope they manage to keep you healthy.
Yes, the names are difficult, especially because Norse and old English pronounced the letters differently from the modern language. I wonder if it was Maria Grace who shared a link to how the English spoke in medieval times and they pronounced the letters very similar to modern Norwegian and my ABC doesn't sound like the English ABC. In addition, English use a thick L while the Norse/Norwegian also use the thin L which is why my name is challenging.

I really appreciate you taking your time, Sheila.
By the bye, the đ is pronounced like th.
I did try to avoid the letters that are not in use today but a few were unavoidable. King Alfred, for instance, was called King Æthelred but since the æ is no longer in the English alphabet I chose the modern translation.
I remember your daughter had Norwegian ancestry so it must be interesting to know some of her heritage. I thought it particularly fun to add some of the traditions that are still in use in modern weddings and Christmas celebrations. Many that one might believe are new inventions are indeed very old (and pagan) customs.
I am tired but well, shuttling back and forth between hospitals and therpists with my children. It has been a busy autumn and I do not have much time for reading or writing but I am hoping it will calm after new year's.

Re; my daughter - since I am Anglo-Saxon (names in family: Covington, Fuller, Adams, McConnico, Lambert) and my husband is Wendish (Slovak) I have to believe the Norwegian connection is through my side and just maybe some Viking impregnated an ancestor...whether through marriage or through one of those raids. My aunt did have her family line researched back to William the Conqueror, but I don't remember any Norwegian person back to that date, 1066.

Yes I noticed the cover and ratings disappeared for a while but they are back now. It must have been a glitch on GR.
I hope you enjoy VVV Sheila or at least are entertained. It is midday in my neck of the woods when it is morning in the US. I have 3:21 pm when you have 9:21 am

That is strange, Sheila, because it is listed and it looks like you are reading the new version to me but here is the link to be sure: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Hi Jadeed!
I am in the process of publishing Still Waters, hopefully, within a week or two. My editor is done, all I need to do is a final read through, figure out how to format and publish. Since I have not done this before, it is a little difficult to promise an exact date.
Still Waters will be available to purchase on Amazon for 99 cents and on the Kindle Unlimited program. Because I have chosen to add it to KU, I am not allowed to have the story up on any of the free sites.
My other stories are still available on AO3 and FF for the time being. All but one on AO3 are Pride and Prejudice variations.
Thank you for asking!
I am thrilled that the story is missed :)

I am back to posting the entire story in one go as this is a novella with short chapters. (I post when the entire story is finished.)
I have tried posting one or two chapters a day. While it did attract more readers, it also attracted the less pleasant guest reviewers.
I am uncertain of which approach I will use in the future but I have a novel in the finishing stages that has longer chapters, it makes more sense to divide it up.

How exciting!
Many Norwegians emigrated to the states, about a hundred years ago. Norway is in many ways an inhospitable place to live so they searched for a better life overseas. I know I have family in Rochester.

Thank you for offering Sheila but I found the complete version on Austen Underground so I have read it.

Time for an update as I have a lot of new projects in the making.
*Brother Dearest: A Pride and Prejudice variation where I explore what might have happened if Darcy was not such a good brother... Finished and in the final editing stages.
*A Sign of the Times: A contemporary mashup between PnP, SnS, Emma, MP, NA and Sanditon. It is a complicated story to write so even though I am about halfway through, it will be months until it is finished. Inspired by the many YA mashups, I wanted to write one with an adult feel. (My most romantic Darcy to date, I believe.)
*The Poldark Pride: Who would be better equipped to teach Ross Poldark a lesson than Mrs Darcy. Outlined but not started.
*Epilogue to Convenience of That Kind: Nesting up some loose threads and an answer to many who wanted more after the story was finished. I am picturing a longish one-shot. Outlined and started.
*HEA 2: outlined and started.
*I have an idea for a twist to Jane story where ODC are married according to Canon but Jane and Bingley have major issues... Outlined.
*Nidaros Saga: While writing Veni Vidi Vicious I thought the story could be made into a family saga but to do that I needed original characters to lose the restrictions of writing JAFF. I have written the two first books about Elysande from Mercia and Ulvhedin, the Norwegian Viking. The third book in this series will be this year's NaNoWriMo project. To make it easier on myself, I am writing in my native tongue of Norwegian.

The plot bunnies makes havoc in my mind. I cannot concentrate on anything else until they are written down.

I worked at the Dyno Nobel Explosives, Gullaug plant for five years and I wanted to pay homage to my fabulous coworkers and write a modern Pride and Prejudice variation.
