Lori Altebaumer I have never experienced writer's block. If one story isn't working in the moment, I just let it go and see what rises to to the top. Usually it will circle me around until I see where I need to go on the original project I was working on. I just don't put pressure on, but let the Holy Spirit lead.
Lori Altebaumer I tell people that I live with one foot in a parallel universe and it's one a made up myself. But seriously, when I get a note or comment from someone who was touched by the story I captured... that's the best. I hope readers are changed or challenged in some way by the books I write so that they someway a little different than they were before.
Lori Altebaumer Write! I best learned how to write a book by actually writing a book. Until then, all the books on writing, conferences, and courses were great, but the principles of how all the parts actually work together didn't solidify in my mind until I actually put them into practice.
Lori Altebaumer I'n currently working on another romantic suspense set in rural Texas. In this one my female protagonist is a truck driver who sees something she wasn't meant to see in a town that tends to hold all its secrets close.
Lori Altebaumer Honestly, I'm never not inspired to write. I can be uninspired to rewrite at times, but overall I love the whole process of seeing the world through the eyes of my characters.
Lori Altebaumer Like most of my ideas, a scene just pops into my head...unusually while I'm trying to think about something more urgent or important. Some of those scenes demand I follow along to see what happens. So that's how I ended up following a woman truck driver into a convenience store where she witnesses a child abduction. The part about the child abduction really came about with a true life experience of one of my friends.
