My favorite character from The Markings is actually Alexander! I think that may surprise people because he isn't the MC, but I absolutely love Alexander's character and his arc is my favorite in the entire series. He's a character I loved writing from day one, and is the reason bonus chapters from other character POVs exists, because I was just dying to write from his perspective.

I read other YA fantasy books and that always inspires me to continue to grow my own story and world! I also find myself reading a lot of other new author's posts about their writing journey. I love the writing community on Twitter and constantly find inspiration in that area.

The idea for The Markings actually came from a dream I had when I was just a freshman in high school (nearly 10 years ago!). I had scene the beginning scenes in the dream and the story grew from that initial idea!

Currently I am writing book two in my series, The Markings! I am also wrapping up last minute edits and marketing for The Markings, which comes out April 24th!

My advice is to keep writing! The more you write the better you get. I've written and rewritten chapters and pieces of writing so many times. Your writing will continue to get better the more you let yourself do it! Also, know your options! You don't have to take the traditional publishing route. You don't have to hire specific cover designers or go through specific publishing houses. Know that your journey as an author is unique and completely up to you. What works for someone may not be the path you end up taking and that's okay. There are hundreds of different paths you can take in this industry, so do the research and know the different options you have.

The best thing about being a writer is the freedom to always do what you love. No matter what is going on or what I'm going through can always turn to writing. I love that writing is something I can do no matter what. I can write in a notebook, type on my computer, or even make notes on my phone. I love that it is always there.

I write something else! I've found when I hit a writer's block with book one in my series The Markings it would help to start writing parts in book two or three from the series. Writing those future scenes and events helped me pick up where I was in book one to get it there! Also listening to music always helped. I also coach high school speech, and working on different types of writing like that also helps me overcome a writers block.

Immediately I would say district 12 in The Hunger games because I would want to see where Katniss grew up and lived. But really I think it would be cool to visit the capital and the arena where the games took place! There are so many places in that book that I would love to visit because I'm such a huge fan of the series.

New newest book in the Hunger Games series is at the top of my list!
Additionally I would like to get my hands on a new YA fantasy series. I've been taking some time to get over the end of the Red Queen series. I will be spending a lot of my time working on book two in my series THE MARKINGS.
