It doesn't matter how old you are or what your education level is just start writing. Don't go back and edit...just write it all down first, don't stop. When you think you've said all you want to say that's when you go back and edit. Never underestimating the talent of an experienced editor. They are worth every dime. Never, ever publish without having an editor give it a substantive edit.

This was my first book so I don't have a whole lot of advice to give to anyone experiencing writer's block. What I can say is that I scheduled my writing time for every evening after working a full time job. There were some nights I sat at my desk for two hours staring at the same paragraph knowing I wasn't happy with it but couldn't find the right words. Sometimes it took me two nights to get it right. But I finally got it! In my opinion if I didn't sit in my writing space my book would have taken a lot longer to finish if at all. You have to schedule your writing and commit to that schedule.

My book was launched March 13, 2020. That same week COVID-19 hit and we were in lockdown. I had to cancel my book launch and planning for events came to a halt. That being said I am now relying on social media to market my book. I am navigating my way around social media, preparing for my website launch and entertaining the idea of a creating podcasts.

I was inspired by the idea that maybe what I write could help someone in not only in similar circumstances but anyone growing up in a dysfunctional home with an alcoholic parent or maybe my book could help anyone battling with depression and/or suffering PTSD.

I didn't plan on publishing a book. I had five floppy discs filled with emails from conversations my daughter and I had when we first connected. They were supposed to be compiled into one, personal book for her.
