Danika Bloom What my dad actually did for work. He called himself an entrepreneur, but never gave details.

In university, he hired two of my male friends to work for him. Years later they told me they were doing low-level spy stuff - going through specific people's trash, for instance.

Once, on a trip home to visit, my mom and I loaded up an old suitcase with stuff I wanted to save from my childhood. We were at the airport when Dad noticed the suitcase - and he freaked out because it had a false bottom in it. Mom didn't know. He told me that if I was asked, to say I bought it at a second hand store.

Dad died with most of his secrets. If he shared what he was really doing for work with Mom, she's as tight-lipped as he was.
Danika Bloom To start, I don't consider 'writer's block' as a noun, I think of it as a verb, 'writer's blocking'. And, as an action that I have control over as opposed to some evil wall that is mysteriously dropped in my path, I get to choose to just write through the slump. Which is what I do. I just keep writing and deal with the mess in the editing phase.
Danika Bloom Find a community of writers, people who understand what it is to be an author, to support you. The best thing I did was join an online community called The Creative Academy for Writers. It's free, it has members from all over the world, and everyone is there to help each other succeed.
