What are you currently working on?
Shannon Work I'm currently working on outlining Book 4 of the Mountain Resort Mystery Series. THE KILLING STORM (Book 3) is with my copy editor and will be out soon. It's a traditional murder mystery set in Telluride, Colorado, in the dead of winter. It was a lot of fun to write. I can't wait for everyone to read it!

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Shannon Work Read. Decide what you like to read, then read some more. Only then will you know what to write!

Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
Shannon Work There was a man in the forest. I didn't see him until it was too late.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Shannon Work Narnia! I can still remember the magic of reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for the first time in the 7th grade.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Shannon Work Now I See You is set in Aspen, Colorado. I've always loved the Rocky Mountains and thought it would be an intriguing setting for a mystery novel. I needed a high-profile resort location for the story and Aspen fit the bill perfectly. It was fun thinking up a cast of characters to populate the story. Aspen is very unique, a mishmash of the haves and have-nots, of flannel and fur. It was the perfect setting for crafting a traditional whodunit.

The second book in the series is set in Vail. I'm outlining it now and it will be out in the spring. I'm already planning the third book and it will be set in Telluride where my husband and I have a home.

What books are on your summer reading list this year?
Shannon Work I always read or re-read at least one Agatha Christie novel every summer. This summer I read Five Little Pigs. I'm about to start Death on the Nile again since the movie comes out in November and I want to read the book again first!
